There are many types of pain relief after an auto accident or car crash. Many people suffer soft tissue injuries after a car accident and need pain relief. Some auto accidents can cause more that soft tissue injuries as well. These can be concussions, broken bones, scarring, burns, cuts, and even permanent injuries.

Most accidents consist of at least some soft tissue damage. This could be strained muscles, sprained ligaments or tendons, and even disc bulges or herniations. There are multiple ways to get pain relief from these.

The most common pain relief that people seek are OTC medications like IB Profen and Tylenol. Many people use this because it is easy to access and inexpensive. Along with medications Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation (RICE) can help to decrease swelling and pain. These are all easy at home options.

Health Service Options

Next, people may seek out chiropractic, physical therapy, or see their family physician. These are all options and when seeking medical attention after an auto accident you want to make sure that the doctor or physician seeing you understands the auto accident injuries that people often suffer from. If you go to an untrained physician, you may not get the care you need to get the results you want of a full recovery. It is important to have a great health care provider who understands the auto accident recovery process. Often people who are injured after an auto accident do not pay money out of pocket. Most auto insurances in Utah have PIP or coverage that pays for medical treatment.

Axcess Accident Center specializes in auto accident injuries and recovery of those injuries. We utilize chiropractic, massage, acupuncture, rehab therapies, ozone injections and decompression therapy for those who have injured discs.

If these rehab therapies and approaches are not working effectively the next step would be pain management. With pain management it may consist of injections, radio frequency, and nerve blocks. This can be an effective way to get out of pain quickly without a surgery. Often if medications and conservative treatment are ineffective this is the next step. This can often help people return back to work after an auto accident and get them to be able to return to some activities of daily living.

Surgery? Is that an option?

Next and often the last step is surgery. Surgery would require positive findings on a MRI or Xray depending on what is being considered for surgery. Often, we find, that through conservative care and pain management surgery can be avoided. However, when surgery is needed we recommend to see one of the top or best surgeons in the field. Surgery in the back has come a long way in 20 years. We have replacement discs now and also surgeries that do not require massive scars and cutting. We look at what is the best outcome possible and the risks when considering this last option. Sometimes surgeries can be small as well. A discectomy is often a small procedure and does not require any overnight stays in a hospital. Depending on the need or want of the patient surgery can be an option.

Finally, in between all of these options there are many at home things a person can do. Stretching, yoga, vitamins, diet, nutrition, and more. We also see patients who need counseling after experiencing and accident or concussion treatment. We work with many providers to make sure a complete and comprehensive approach to auto accident recovery is done.
